Located just up the hill from the Historic Downtown shops, The Big Horse Brew Pub by HorseFeathers & Co. offers delicious and unique dishes, refreshing microbrews and an excellent view of the Columbia River Gorge. High atop a hill in Hood River, the Big Horse Brew Pub offers guests indoor and outdoor seating, plus several pool tables. Visitors climb several flights of stairs to seats overlooking Hood River and the Columbia River.
From starters to salads, sandwiches and burger, the menu at the Big Horse Brew Pub contains some interesting and unique offerings. One of the signature starters or side items is sweet potato fries, golden brown shoestring sweet potatoes cut thin and served with ginger salt and Thai peanut sauce. Other starters include Buffalo Wings, Creole Fried Calamari, Roast Duck Quesadilla and Hoisin Tofu with chili sauce. Guests make a meal out of starters and salad or choose from a variety of pub favorites and burgers.
Guests might try dishes such as the Smoked Salmon Pizza, Pecan Encrusted Chicken, or classic ale battered fish & chips, with a side of sweet potato fries. The Big Horse Brew Pub serves a delicious BBQ Portabello Burger or The Big Cheese, with choice of cheddar, swiss, goat or bleu cheese. One of the more unique options is the Greek burger made of Oregon raised organic lamb, served in a grilled pita with tzatziki sauce. The brew pub offers a kids menu and several delicious desserts, such as Chocolate Thunder Cake or Lemonberry Jazz Bar.
Of course the main attraction at the Hood River brew pub is the fresh craft beer. The Big Horse Brew Pub serves house made ales on tap, from blonde to dark oatmeal stout. The brew pub also serves seasonal ales throughout the year. For light-bodied ale or pale ale, guests enjoy Horsetail Pale Ale or Pale Rider I.P.A. For amber or black stout, beer connoisseurs drink MacStallion's Scotch Ale or Nightmare Oatmeal Stout. Beers are served by the glass, pint or pitcher or guests order the Big Horse Sampler. Happy Hour occurs Monday through Friday from 4-6pm, with great specials on beer and starters.
