Kah-Nee-Tah Resort Offers unique N.W. VacationKah-Nee-Tah Has Gambling, Golf and a large Choice of Accommodations
Kah-Nee-Tah, owned and operated by the Warm Springs Indian Tribe in Oregon, offers a vacation that everyone in the family will enjoy.
This beautifully maintained resort, situated along the banks of the Warm Springs River only ninety minutes from Portland, Oregon, provides opportunities for a memorable stay, be it a one day excursion or a week’s getaway. Location of Kah-Nee-TahLocated east of Portland, Oregon, on the east side of the Cascade Range off Hwy. 126, this Indian owned and operated resort is a popular year round destination, but the late spring and summer months bring the most tourists, many for just a day visit to soak up some rays and “dry out” from the often damp, rainy weather west of the Cascades. Kah-Nee-Tah can be a furnace in the summer! Kah-Nee-Tah’s Versatile AccommodationsThe Lodge, dramatically located on a hill overlooking the Village, has nicely appointed rooms of varying sizes, all with stunning desert views. There’s also a centrally situated swimming pool with bar service available, a small exercise facility and two dining rooms. Gift shops offer striking and exquisitely made Indian jewelry along with an attractive selection of hats, clothes and curios. The campground, located in the lower Village, hosts fifty-two available spaces, all with electricity, water, sewer and a patch of grass. Reservations are booked through the Lodge reservationist. Teepees, a great hit with large groups, are also available for rent. Activities at Kah-Nee-Tah What would you like to do in this sunny mecca? Golf? Tennis? Swim? Fish? Hike? Kayak? Horseback ride? Maybe gamble? Or are you more the spa type? All of these activities are available. The 18 hole golf course has been continuously improved over the years. Reservations are recommended as the course often hosts tournaments. The casino, the most recent addition to the resort, is connected to the lodge and is open twenty-four hours a day. Hikers should be reminded that this is rattlesnake country, and fishermen need to obtain a special tribal permit to fish any part of the river which is on the Warm Springs Reservation. The younger set will enjoy the Village where there’s an extremely large, heated pool with a water slide, putt-putt golf, playground equipment and a volleyball area. Activities demonstrating Indian cultural rites and ceremonies are presented at the Lodge. Reservations for these events are required. Winter Vacations at Kah-Nee-TahDon’t feel your vacation needs to be scheduled for the summer. Winter getaways are also available at Kah-Nee-Tah, which gets little snow and lots of winter sunshine, so look for special weekend promotions. Indeed, each season in the high desert has its advantages. Kah-Nee-Tah Resort offers a memorable summer vacation and a special winter interlude.
