Lots of fun New Year's Eve events are taking place in Portland this year.

New Year's Eve plans wait for no one! Spend December 31st, 2008 partying in Portland, Oregon with options for celebrating including a bus tour to local clubs and lounges, a champagne ball and more.

Crystal Ballroom

New Year’s Eve at McMenamin’s Crystal Ballroom is always a good time. This ballroom claims 90 years of party’s and is a popular venue to ring in the new year. The celebration this year revolves around New Years Nation, a live video stream from ten parties around the country. Semi-formal attire is required. Ticket price includes:

  • Champagne reception upon arrival
  • 5 hour premium open bar
  • 2 live bands and 3 DJs
  • Hors D’Ouevres and appetizers served from 8:30 – 11:00 pm
  • Champagne toast at midnight
  • Late night snack

Travis Barker and DJ AM will be playing live from Los Angeles.

The Crystal Ballroom is located at 1332 W. Burnside Street in Portland. The party starts at 8:00 pm on December 31, 2008, with doors closing at 2:00 am. Tickets prices range from $100 to $200 and are available at buy.newyearsnation.com.

BarFly Bus Tour

The Ninth Annual New Year’s Eve BarFly Bus Tour starts at 7:00 pm on December 31. Leave the driving and planning up to someone else by hopping onboard one of the BarFly buses. Party hats, noisemakers and even a midnight champagne toast are included in the cost: $25 per person, or $200 for a group of ten people. In addition to the New Year’s Eve paraphernalia, cost includes rides to, and cover charges at 8 to 10 different bars and clubs in the Portland area. There is no dress code on the bus.Tickets are available at barflymag.com.

Champagne Ball

The 18th Annual Champagne Ball at the Hilton Portland and Executive Tower claims to be Portland’s largest New Year’s Eve party. Bands will be playing all night and food will be served throughout the evening. Doors open at 8:00 pm on December 31. Dress code is semi-formal to formal, with no jeans, t-shirts or tennis shoes allowed. Tickets vary from $75 to $100 per person and are available at A Swank Affair at 503-245-8750.

Skamania Lodge

Spend the night at Skamania Lodge in the beautiful Columbia Gorge for New Year’s Eve while enjoying a Dinner and Dance Party. Dress code is "upscale". The Party Package for Two includes:

  • Dinner and Dessert buffet
  • Party favors
  • Music and dancing with the Patrick Lamb Band
  • Midnight Champagne toast
  • Midnight snack buffet
  • Overnight in a superior Forest View guest room

The package rates start at $349 plus fees for December 31, 2008. Reservations can be made at 1-800-221-7117. The Skamania Lodge is located at 1131 SW Skamania Lodge Way in Portland.

Portland has numerous fun ways to ring in the New Year. These events all include alcoholic beverages so are appropriate for those 21 and older.
